Equation of A Strait Line

Slope or Gradient of A Straight Line

The slope or gradient of a line is the tangent of the angle the straight line makes with the positive direction of the x-axis.

The gradient or slope of the line

Slope or Gradient of a straight line joining Two points.

Let A (x₁, y₁) and B (x₂, y₂) be two points on a line l which makes angle with the positive direction of x-axis.

Parallel Lines.

Let l and m be two parallel lines making angle with x-axis.

Hence two parallel lines have equal slopes.

Perpendicular Lines.

Let l and m be two straight lines meeting at P at an angle of 90⁰.

Let l makes angle and m makes angle with x-axiss
