Example - 3 : The point A (2, 3), B (4, 5) and C (7, 2) are the vertices of

1. Write down the co-ordinates of A` B` C` if is the image of when reflected in the origin.
2. Write down the co-ordinates of A’’ B’’ C’’ if is the image of when reflected in the x- axis.
3. Mention the special name of the quadrilateral BCC’’ B’’ and find its area.

Solution :

1. Mo (x, y) = (- x, - y)
   
   Mo (B) = Mo (4,5) = B` (- 4, - 5)
   Mo (C) = Mo (7,2) = C` (- 7, - 2)
2. Mx (x, y) = (x, - y)
   Mx (A) = Mx (2, 3) = A" (2, -3)
   Mx (B) Mx (4, 5) = B’’ (4, - 5)
   Mx (C) = Mx (7, 2) = C’’ (7, -2)
3. BCC’’ B’’ is a trapezium.
